Have you tried rotating it about 90 degrees to see if it fits that way? You should be able to rotate the bracket, so it fits on at a different angle. If you do, then it's best to have it blowing out the top of the case.

its all over google , it doesnt fit your board :(

THE HEATSINK AROUND THE MOTHERBOARD GETS IN THE WAY OF THE CLIP
<table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td class="info" colspan="2" align="left" valign="top"> evga 790i board + zalman 9500a doesn't work (4/2/2008 8:40:23 PM) </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" valign="top">
Im starting to get very ****, the zalman cnps-9500a doesn't fit no matter what way you try it

the mounting bracket that gets screwed down into motherboard cannot be positioned any other way, you can only mount that part the correct way with the little circle notch aligned so the locking arm can open

the vreg heatsink closest to the memory slots blocks the clip from going all the way down and clipping

WTF evga!!! or better yet foxconn, since there the oem makers of this board </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="info" colspan="2" nowrap="nowrap" valign="bottom">

Seems you can't do the suggestion I posted as the 9500 uses different fittings to the 9700, which is probably why the 9700 seems to work.

its not a very good cooler IMO, i'd look at ''scythe'' coolers, they've got some great heat sinks...;)
