Programs constantly stops working

I have tried to reinstall IE8 & IE7 but IE7 doesn't install, and IE8 still has the same problem after I install it again. I ran a few scans before and took care of everything bad. Some other programs will still stop working (like, everyday). Watson Client, and Media TV thingy always stops working the minute I turn on the computer. What's the problem? My laptop is new, I've had it for only a few weeks.
