Good morning. I am a first time poster (with not much tech experience). I just generated a General System Health Report on my HP Pavilion DV6 x64 bit laptop.

Under the results, I receive the following Warnings/Error

Symptom: A service is reported as having an unexpected error code

Cause: One or more services has failed. The service did not stop gracefully, suggesting the service may have crashed or one of its components stopped in an unsupported way.

Details: Service exited with code not equal to 0 or 1077

Resolution: Restart the service

Symptom: The Workstation service has stopped abnormally.

Cause: Application Error. Exit code 1077.

Resolution: Restart the service

Could you please advise me as to what this means and how I can fix it? Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide me.

David

Hi David, and welcome to vistax64.

First, please enter your system specs in the lower left portion of your window.

Then, go to c:\windows\minidump , zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it to us we can help.

When you receive the warning, is the system rebooting? Blue Screen?

Hi Lemur, I entered the specs, although I couldn't find what type of motherboard I have. Also, I was unable to find the minidump file under the windows folder. Any advice?

Open an elevated command prompt.
Run sfc /scannow
Run Health Report again.
Do you see a display name or service name associated with the report?

I believe it's called the "Systems Service Checks".
