Hi,

I recently re-installed a clean copy of Vista Ultimate 32bit onto my computer. Before doing this i copied all the files i wanted to keep onto an external HDD, when i had re-installed vista and tried to retrieve my files of the HDD the computer won't recognize the drive, at first i thought it was a driver problem so i downloaded the drivers and installed them. Now it still comes up saying there are no drivers installed when i know there is, please help?

Go to Start and type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
In the window that opens, check to see if there are any unknown/unrecognized devices (they may have red x's or yellow ?'s).

Right click on the unknown device(s) and select Properties, then select the Details tab. Click on the dropdown box there and select Hardware ID.

If it's a PCI device, get the 4 characters immediately following the VEN_ and the 4 characters immediately following the DEV_

If it's a USB device, get the 4 characters immediately following the VID_ and the 4 characters immediately following the PID_

If it's anything else, please get the entire string.

We'll use this information to determine what drivers are lacking and where you can get them from. We'll also need the exact make and model of your system to be sure that we get the right device drivers.
