    USB Device Not Recognized (iPod)

Every time I plug in my iPod I get this at the bottom right...

When I close out of that I also get this in the middle of my screen...

I have restarted my computer and tried different USB ports. Nothing shows up in "Computer" about a removable device. Please help me out.

Did the ipod have any instructions in the manual on how to install drivers?

The drivers just come with iTunes. (I have the latest version)

See this is what happened. I am pretty sure this is why it is messed up but I can't be sure.

I deleted one of my partitions on my HD. This is where iTunes was installed so I reinstalled it to get it working correctly. I then added all my music back to my library and now tried to finally plug in my iPod and this all pops up..

Ahh. Can you insert the ipod with itunes on? So open Itunes, then try inserting the device.

It is still doing the same thing. The iPod won't even show in "My Computer" so therefore it won't show up in iTunes.

Is this a laptop or desktop? Can you try a different USB port? If that doesn't work, can you check if the ipod works on another pc?

Desktop; I tried all different ports (some straight into the Motherboard and some on the front of my case). All of the USB ports do the same thing. I can check tomorrow to see if it works on my brothers computer.

I went into device manager and this is what it shows for my iPod... (the one highlighted)

Just thought this might help solve the problem quicker.

Hmmm. Check the links above too, delete the unknown device and reboot. The usb's on the front are connected to the front panel header but if they don't work, try another pc and the links I posted previously. This is probably why a cheap USB mp3 player is the best.

Eh, I haven't actually had many problems with my iPod. I personally love it though, had it for about two years. I am going to bed right now but I will get back to you tomorrow about all of this. I checked the links though and I have already done most of it.
