Access denied

Why do I get access denied when I try to open remote hard drive on which my backed up files are kept from windows xp machine now I have new machie running vista

If you are using simple file and printer sharing, make sure the WORKGROUP names are the same. By default XP uses MSHOME and Vista uses WORKGROUP. That's the most common "gotcha'". For anything else provide some information. All you say is you have a network with XP and Vista on it. Give some hints.

Re: Take Ownership of file

I have gone through taking ownership to the advanced edit then it says file or directory is corrupt or unreadable but I know it is not as I can see all the files if I plug the drive into a laptop running XP. Where do I go from here.
