Adding more ram

Ok so I have a Sony Vaio Laptop with 1GB of Ram. 32bit system. I upgraded to 2gb after I found my from this memory website that my laptop can support a max of 2gb.

Here is the catch.

According to my computer. A Total of Memory Installed: 2GB
but Total Physical Memory is Still 1GB.

Basically on My Computer it says 2GB Memory
After pressing Control + Alt + Delete, the Physical Memory is still 1GB???

How do I change this to where the task manager says 2gb??? My laptop is still running 1GB even with 2GB installed. Do I have to update something? Reinstall? Help!

Its probably a setting you need to change in BIOS. To boot into Bios you hit a key combo (its different for different computers) like esc, del, F2. you can find what key it is by looking at the very first screen that comes up when the computer starts

Oncce in bios look for the memory swection and see what it is set for
