| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 : Seven Ultimate x64 | Re: CPU not connecting to monitor? If the screen is not turning on, it's a hardware error. There is nothing that can be done from within Windows itself. Does the machine even beep at all (a single beep) when you turn it on? A single beep indicates everything is okay. No beeps at all indicates that it is not even POSTing At this stage, you may have to face the prospect of taking it somewhere to be looked at. Due to the multitude of possibilities, it's extremely difficult to remotely diagnose the problem. It could be a faulty RAM module, Power Supply, motherboard, video card, loose connection etc. Then again it may be none of these at all. |

| Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: CPU not connecting to monitor? No it is not beeping at all now. May I know that if it is one of those faulty hardware you spoke of, will it be replaced? Will it cost alot? |

| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 : Seven Ultimate x64 | Re: CPU not connecting to monitor? It really depends on what is wrong with it. If the h/ware is faulty, it will have to be replaced. I honestly couldn't say how much it will be, but you will looking at the parts+labour. It could be anywhere between $50-$250, it could also be less. Although the fact that it is not POSTing means that something is dead. |

| Windows Vista Home Basic 6002 Service Pack 2 32-bit | Re: CPU not connecting to monitor? try the same cable on a different monitor, if that works, it isn't the cable and you will have to do what smarteyeball says. if it doesn't work, it is the cable and you will have to buy a new one. |

| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 : Seven Ultimate x64 | Re: CPU not connecting to monitor? By all means, try another cable if you have one spare - but I personally think it would be a waste of money to buy a new one. Again, the fact that there is no beep is indicative of a more serious hardware failure. |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | Re: CPU not connecting to monitor? Do you have any friends that are a bit more computer savvy as you put it, they may be able to strip don the computer and do the diag test of taking it apart and having a barebones system. If the motherboard has on board graphics connect the monitor to that with 1 stick of ram, no sound card(using the built in ram). No hard drive connected, no CD or DVD roms connected. This is just to confirm what may be wrong. As Smarteyeball has said it is impossible to tell without doing some test. Good luck. |
