Solved Anyone going for Windows 7?

I am probably going to "upgrade" to Windows 7. Not that I hate Vista, I am just told by numerous people around me that 7 is the way to go, and by the reviews it really seems that way. Who else is going to do this switch?

Depends on your view. I installed it on my Laptop and it's faster and a little bit easier to use than Vista.

My main computer (the desktop) stays on Vista though, it's not worth spending another big amount of money for 7 to put on it as Vista in itself is already better and faster than XP.

mmmm well ive been with it since the early betas , and i have to say i am getting it soon (cheap ;) ) , it has some nice touches to it but tbh ill never use any of them , faster? well mine boots faster but thats it , i have heard that lower end machines will find a big improvement over vista but i didnt , and being a gamer ive had the opportunity to benchmark all my games against Vista and again found no improvement . Im hoping this will change as drivers mature but im not holding my breath

one thing i will say say dont go for the basic entry level version (i think its called starter) , get home premium at the very least the basic version lacks SO much content over the rest (this info isnt based on my own personnel testing the only full version ive tested is ultimate , i read about the starter version online)

I'll second that Sbrideau.

I've done one clean install on my laptop and one upgrade on my desktop. Both went with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

My advice is this....If you have a fast, stable Vista installation then don't bother to get Win7. The differences between Vista and Win7 are small and do not justify the price.

Why did I do it? Easy. I bought my copies early at the cut down price :D. Not only that, but I ordered two.........and got three :D:D:D

I will convert one my of my systems to win7. Main reason is the native Trim support for my SSD. For the other 3 systems, I will wait.
I like what I see with the RC although they unfortunately dropped a few functions that I liked and used a lot in Vista. But that's life - you win a few and you loose a few.
