How To Make A Factory Image Partition

I have a question is there a way to make a Factory Image partition in Vista Basic? What I'm asking is I have tried to reinstall windows on a new hard drive that I upgraded to on a laptop and it still won't make the factory image on its own partition.

Are you using the Factory Image DVD's made from the Laptop?

Be more specific when you say it wont install the image on its own partition

When you open My Computer there is no Factory Image Partition next to C drive.

install easeus partition manager. open it up, and at the top of the list of volumes, there should be a partition with the drive name ' * '. right click, hover over advanced options, and then 'change driver letter'. choose any. click ok, then click apply near the top of the window. in my computer, it should show up.

Then at this point it shouldn't exactly matter. As long as you have the CD's or DVD's for recovery purposes you will be fine :)

Normally with PC's you get 1 or the other...either a hidden Recovery Partition or the factory Restore DVD...

as patio said, you will probably have a recovery disc, not a recovery partition.

i should know this, but if you use the recovery partition to burn to a disc, does it include drivers?
(i used a dell recovery disc and now i feel stupid for using it because i have an acer :o)
