| Vista X64 | Can't Install or Update! Hi all, A little help please.... I am running Vista x64. My computer is a bit over a year old and all of a sudden as of a few weeks ago I am unable to install any programs or install any updates. Never had any problems before. I am not sure why this is happening but I don't have any viruses, that I know of. A virus scan is clear. ![]() When I try to update I get an error code of 80200053 Any ideas? Much appreciated... | Vista Ultimate 64-bit, SP2 | Re: Can't Install or Update! Hi Steve123, Please list all of the Security Progs. that you are currently running on your computer. The error message you list indicates that it is possible you may have a corrupt Windows Update Agent. Read carefully the information in the supplied link - Information for network administrators about how to obtain the latest Windows Update Agent Last edited by JMH; 2 Weeks Ago at 04:10 AM.. | Vista 32 win 7 7600 32 bit | Re: Can't Install or Update! Could you do me a favor and type event viewer in search. When there go to windows logs>application tab. Look for errors (red "X" in left column) that reference either app hang, app crash, or similar. there will be a bunch. When you fin the one that is most frequent/relevant note the Event ID and source codes. If app doesnt give you anything you can also try the system tab. You can also run a system file check to verify and repair your system files to run it type cmd in search>right click and run as admin> SFC /SCANNOW Let us know the results. Ken J |
