Webcam Problem on Sony Vaio

Hey all,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CR354 (pink!) and since it blue screened on me a few months ago I've not been able to use the webcam at all (camera model is VGP-VCC6).

I have reinstalled all the drivers for the camera and it works when I test it (with Fwink) i.e. the little green light beside the camera itself comes on...but I don't get anything but a black screen. Have also tried with Skype and Messenger Live and get the same black screen. After reading about loads and loads of people who have the same problem it seems that I actually need the software for the camera, not the drivers.

So, this is my question; where on earth would I go about getting the software from? I didn't have a disc of software with my laptop when I bought it and prior to the blue screen 'incident' I had never backed up (I know, I know I've learned my lesson...the hard way!) :o

Would love any help you could give me because I've seriously spent weeks on this and it's doing me in!

Cheers,
Zoe

i have a VAIO VGN too. If you can go to Recovery Utilities BACK UP your data and do a fresh install... The SAME thing happened to me and that fixed it... if you dont have recovery disks the recovery utilities lets you make them. 11cds or 3 DVDs BOTH NON REWRITABLE hope this helps
