Vista Home Premium 32bit insprion 1420 laptop
When this laptop was new a reciovery d -drive was setup i think ...:rolleyes: it shows c drive and recovery d ...

now im haveing trouble with my laptop and would like to know what steps i take to set this laptop back to the out of the box condition ..should i use the recovery d to set it back? or do i use the os disk that came with it ?

please help

Either - the o/s disk is for if you can't use the recovery partition - they both do the job.

Will be quicker from the recovery partition.

Press the F8 key at startup
Choose "Repair Your Computer"
Choose keyboard layout
Enter your user name and password
Choose "Dell factory image restore"
Choose Next
Tick box to reformat and restore to factory condition.
