HELP!! My DVD/CD –Rom driver is GONE. I went to burn a DVD and my software said it was unable to find the drive. I looked in “My Computer” and the drive does not show up. I checked Device Manager it says “ Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39). Location 0 (channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0) it is a TTS corp cddvdw ts-l632n ata device. I called a friend of mine and got his external drive. It failed to install. I got the same message about Windows cannot load device. What can I do? I need to burn a DVD for an important project by Friday. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Computer

I found the error when trying to burn a dvd from cyberlink power director 7. I think what happened is I received an e-mail from a friend. I opened an attachment that was in word 2007. It keeps trying to install word 2007. I don't have the code keys and it fails to install. Could this be the problem, and will the Micro Soft download fix it? I am rescanning for virus now, I'll try the patch when finished scanning. Thanks.

I guess they could be related. will the ms fixit work? im not sure they have 4 or 5 of them fixes for missing cd/dvd drives. you could try system restore..

you are very welcome... did the ms fix it or restore?
Its thought to be caused by different dvd burning programs that have not been fully uninsatalled....but I just think its VISTA!
