You are very very welcome. If you want to really thank me, try and then come back and say that it worked. I have added a few things to the post. Read again to make sure you have it all.

Good luck

OK, now that I know that the problem is I may be able to help. The factory reset was not the way to start, it may be good that it did not work.

Lets try this

Boot the computer, while it is trying to boot, repeatedly hit f8. This is called safe mode. If it able to work in safe mode, do a system restore to about a week ago. I assume everything was working good at that time.

If the problem just began, and you do not know the cause, it could be a virus or malware. If you get it working again. Make a virus scan and download and use this to look for virus or malware.
Malwarebytes.org

Do you have a Vista DVD?

All members here are like one family. I cannot guarantee that we will solve your problem, but I can guarantee that everyone who sees your post, and has any ideas, will try to help.

Run an anti virus scan too, not just malwarebytes. They look for different things.
