    Hello bigcroc.

It is not advisable to update the BIOS if you have no experience doing so as you could very easily permanently disable the motherboard, it's not something "to try" to fix an issue.

Could you please go into exact detail about the issues you're having and maybe someone can help you find a solution.

    Re: Bios update help

Wow ok thanks for the quick reply ,from the start my psu died but somewhere along the track my os got corupted i was advised to do a clean install from a tech at a computer store,i did that it got to were it says windows will now reboot for the first time ,it shut down and rebooted then a black screen with the mouse thingy in the middle of the screen ,then the mouse froze and that was it just hanging there for over an hour i have left it .I have pressed f8 and tryed installing it in safe mode and the same thing happened ,except that was after the instalation complete.I have since disconected the speakers, the internet from the back of the pctryed again same thing ive managed 5 times to get to were it says windows will now reboot to complete instalation ,i have even tryed taking the disk out and inserting it again when it reeboots still nothing ,i have now fomated my disk as i was running out of space.if theres anything else i need to answer let me know.I did a frwesh instal about 6 months agao and had no problems.
    thanks Rob

    Re: Bios update help

As you've replaced the PSU, let's look at the RAM; at the first link below download the Memtest86 ISO file, then at the second link use ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD (use a CD, it works better from a CD) then boot from the Memtest CD and let it run at least 1 whole pass as a start.

    Both apps are free.

    Re: Bios update help

That issue with the RAM was fixed a long time ago; no leave all the RAM alone so it can be tested, besides if it gets handled in the wrong way it'll short out.
