HELP! low disc space on Recovery D

Getting the error message above: I have not altered anything on pc since I purchased it, as I don't have enough knowledge to do so. I know this is an old problem for most Vista users but can anyone help me to solve it? The constant pop ups are very annoying and worrying.

The recovery D indicator shows red. I have have plenty of space on C: if I can find out how to save backups to it. I save data files to external drive so no problem with that.
I need very simple instructions to sort this out please.

Dell desktop pc. WIndow Vista 32 bit Premium Home edition.

Try using WinDirStat to see where your space is going.

If D: is the factory installed recovery partition, then, presumably, you aren't using it and will only need it if you need to reinstall your software and/or system.

The simplest way is to remove the drive letter from Vista; see Shawn's tutorial http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/114767-drive-letter-add-change-remove.html.

If you later need to reinstall, just add the drive letter back using the same process. Don't use the drive letter for anything else in the meantime.
