hi im wondering if anyone could help with my computer i would really appreciate it..

i have a gateway notebook with vista x64 bit and every time i try to start it up it used to run the disk check and say it would take more than an hour so i left it over night and no progress and it would let me start the computer up normally because it would still scan it no matter what and wouldnt let me start up in safe mode either and now when i start up it runs this disk check in a black screen and never finishes it gets to the 2nd disk out of 3 and then continues again dosent leave me any other choice of booting up (no safe mode or regular) after this check that is never completed it takes me to the log on screen but right before it says completing update 3 out of 3 and it says 0% but never goes any further and then shuts off and starts all over can any one please help me i have a project due in a couple of days and really need this please anyone!!!

Hi, have you tried repeatedly pressing F8 on boot?

This will hopefully give you a list of all possible boot options including Safe Mode.

If you can get in to Safe Mode, I would recommend trying a repair install and see if that helps in stopping Disk Check.

I wish you all the best of luck.

ok i would do that but the only problem is that i cant get into the computer it wont go
to the log on screen so i really cant run any programs or access the internet

Try running startup repair off the Windows Vista install disk.

This might help fix the problem or at the very least tell you exactly what's gone wrong.
