I have a program trying to flash on my screen. It is every 12-15 seconds apart and only flashes for a half second. I have tried to click on it. I have disconnected from the internet as I thought maybe someone was trying to access my computer. Still does it. I ran3 different spyware and antivirus programs. Plus, I ran rkill (all 4 types). I still have the problem. If I am typing while it flashes, it erases my typing. I have defragged, debugged in addition to running spyware and antivirus programs. After doing each one of them, I have restarted my computer. Still get that flash. It is driving me bonkers. Hope someone can help. thanks, Lloyd

Try typing event viewer in search. In the event viewer look for an error or event that occurs on a frequent basis, you may be able to discover the cause.

In addition, are you sure it is a program trying to flash on the screen and not aproblem with your monitor or display? Did you go to device manager and look for any warning notices about defective video cards, etc?

Thanks, never knew about the event viewer. There were some warnings on there. I went through them and most frequent event that is happening on a continuous basis is "The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the running state" However, I do not know what that means. That comes up quite frequent. Also, there are literally hundreds of events logged. How do I delete them and start over.

Thanks a lot. There are literally hundreds of events logged. How do I get rid of them and start over. The help section does not say anything about deleting events. One log that comes up very frequently is "The WinHTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the running state". Bu, I have no clue what that means. It is the most frequent log on the Event viewer.

Warnings are not usually a big problem; errors are what we are looking for. There is no need to delete the older entries as the time is showing when the event ocurred.

Check your device manager as shown in my earlier post.

The event that is occuring every 12-15 seconds is under windows logs/security and shows "windows security auditing"/"system integrity". I have tried everything to stop it. sfc /scannow scanned , but didn't stop the flashing. When it flashes, it eliminates my typing and stops any program I am in for several seconds.

The flashing is still occurring and stops my typing and/or any program I am in. I did a spf /scannow and it scanned and verified, but did not solve the problem. The event changed from audit failure to audit sucess. Some program is scanning my computer every 12-15 seconds with some sort of audit, but I canot find what program is doing thqt. I did not set it up in any way. I tried 3 different malware programs and virus programs and none of them found any problem. It is under windows log/security/system integrity/windows security auditing. It originally showed failure every 12-15 seconds and now after running th scan, it shows success. BUT, the flashing continues and stops everything I am doing including erasing any typing I am doing. Why and how did this 12-15 second checking come up and how do I stop it? I did go to device manager. That was my 1st step when this whole thing started and there are no problems/question marks shown.
