Registry Cleaning

I was looking in my registry and noticed several entries that are left over from software that I no longer use. In fact there is a Bittorrent entry and I never used that before! There's also Mozilla, Symantac (possibly the result of attempting to set up a chat while uninstalling Norton). Is it necessary to use a registry cleaner? I have a copy of "Tweaking Companion for Vista" by Koroush Ghazi and he says the RegSupreme is a good cleaner and that the registry can become bloated over time and perhaps out of date entries should be occassionly cleaned out. I have no intentions of poking around the registry and deleting stuff manually!! Do I need to get a registry cleaner? My computer is a little over a year old and runs very smoothly. Any suggestions?

Fred, please, do not use it. Almost every informed member of this Forum will advise against it. There have been many, many posts frome members who have used these cleaners and have had problems. All that is necessary is for you to maintain your computer properly.

You may want to try ccleaner, without the reg cleaner, and you will be good to go.

Now, I know, that John, among his other abilities, types faster than me. Good going, John.

When you uninstall programs use a program like Revo-Uninstaller and it will remove most of the leftover files. In my case it removed 225 files left over when I uninstalled Vodafone Mobile Connect from my laptop

Fred

If you are talking about revno, just follow the instructions, it will remove ony the program that you want. That being said, always make a system restore point before attempting any change.
You may even want to download this: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/ make a copy of your hard drive and put it away until needed.
