Have you tried to press F11 while booting to access "recovery manager"?(If you have a hidden recovery partition).

Windows Vista Recovery disk problem

I'm in the same boat. it gives an error that it cannot locate the file G:\sources\install.wim . (this iis the dvd/cd drive on my system) what it should do is give me the option of telling it where the factory.wim file is but it doesn't it wants my product key ( which i don't have or i don't know where they hit it in the .wim file) and the actual install files. is there any disc available that will let me tell it where to get the factory.wim?

Thanks for the advice, I tried what you did, but once I got to the 2nd image of your attached ones, it didn't work. Where you see the 'Windows 7' under operating systems, I saw nothing. Has something happened to my OS? Aferwards, I clicked Load Drivers, and didn't know what to select then. Help please. :S

You need to repair it manually.

It is much easier if you use the windows 7 cd ( get the same bit version as the Vista you have installed ). Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs — The NeoSmart Files

Boot it , select Repair my computer, after it has scanned , click next and select the command prompt.

Type:

diskpart

(then press enter)

lis vol

(then press enter- get the drive letter for your windows partition. )

Post back when you have done it.

Ok I did that, and this came up.

Volume 0 - E
Volume 1 - C
Volume 2 - F
Volume 3 - D

The labels/Fs fields were blank, all of them are removable, all 0 bytes, all no media in status, and nothing in info. Does that help?

Take here:

Startup Repair - Windows 7 Forums
Note: You may need to do startup repair 3 to 4 times.

System Recovery Options - Windows 7 Forums

Thanks I tried that. After doing Startup Repair a couple of times, it still said 'Windows found a problem that cannot be repaired automatically'. What should I do? ;s

Try a system restore.

I tried, says there are no back up points.

Guys, is there a way to restore the factory settings of the computer? I've decided I don't care if all my files get deleted, I just want it working properly. :s

My Computer

Here they are.

Here is the standard Acer Recovery Instructions

1. Power on the machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the “Alt” key and press the “F10” key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click “Restore to Factory Default Settings”
4. Click “OK” to continue
5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6. Once eRecovery has run, press “OK” to reboot unit
