System Restore fails

Used SR in the past no problem, but have just tried to restore to a previous point and at the very end of the process (after auto re boot) I get a window telling me it failed and asks me if I want to try a different restore point. I tried a second one with the same result. Anyone got any advice please?

How much space is left in the restore partition?

Hello Stevex,
There are a couple of things you can try.
Try the SR in safe mode.
Also, you can try turning off your AV, see if that helps. (has been known to interfere with SR in the past).

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

How much space is left in the restore partition?

How do I check this, and how will space left alter the points already there?
I have actually reduced the space available for Restore points so it only ever stores 3 of them, but didn't have a problem before.

Is there anything in your logs that tell you why the restore has failed.
Click on the start menu, then right click on my computer and choose manage.
This will bring up different options one being the event viewer.
This may shed some light.

Error 8209, it may work in safe mode as Stoney suggested.
Warning, if you do it in safe mode, you cannot undo, via SR.

Disabled my AV, problem still apparent, is there any way to find out what is wrong with SR apart from trying to work round it?
