Ok so, My power supply went out on me on my desktop. I put in the new one, after i had blown the dust out of everything, and fired it back up.

tower finally powered up, but now my moniter wont come up. I had an ATI video card in it, but pulled it out to use the built in video card. gforce or nvidia i think.

either way, it powers up now, but i cant get anything to come up on the monitor. can any one make any sugestions?

I have double checked all the pluges and made sure the connections are right and tight.

Thank you
JoryLee

Does your ATI card require supplementary power? If so, did you connect it up?

it did, and i did have it plugged in, but the card has been totally removed and the computer is now, "should" be running off of the video card that is built into the mother board.

Could try resetting the the BIOS using the jumpers, that way the bios forgets about the old ATI.

Blown psus are scarey incidents... You may have mobo damage...

I'm not sure about how to reset the BIOS anymore. i've been out of the tech side for several years now. anyway... i too am afraid that there may have been a deeper level of damage when the main power supply went out too.

What board is it. Resetting the bios is a 2min operation, which involves just unpluging power cord, swapping a small jumper, then waiting 10secs or pressing the on... Swaping back the jumper and powering on.

What brand was your psu? Oh and have you double checked all your plugs, 24pin and 4 or 8 pin cpu power, is secure?

Also ensure the ram didn't get wiggled while you swaped the psu.
