Folder redirection of LocalLow and other in AppData

My computer is standalone (no domain). I have right-clicked on c:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\LocalLow and there was a "Location" tab, so I specified a new location (same path but on drive F) and chose to move all files.

Is this a correct way to redirect this folder?

It is currently used by only one application on my computer. What happened next. Next time I launched this application that is using this folder, it filled with files once again, on drive C. So this application somehow did not respect the redirection. So I deleted the files in LocalLow on drive C and this time I denied Write permission for this folder (on drive C). Next time application crashed.

I am asking about it here, because I think the application is buggy, but before creating a bug ticket, I'd like to be sure that what I did according to the redirection was correct.

I have doubts because:

1. In many places in the internet I found articles about redirecting folders and all of them mentioned doing it via GPMC.MMC which I don't have probably because it is for domain users only.
2. Some other articles mentioned redirecting the Roaming user profile. So maybe it is legitimate to redirect AppData\Roaming but not AppData\LocalLow. I don't know.
