    HEEELLLPPPP me please

Hi. Yesterday i heard my pc make 2 crackling noises. Then i smelt smoke and then the pc turned off. Now it does not go into windows. it has a blue screen and restarts. I went into BIOS and found:
    CPU temp: 93 degrees
    System Temp: 30

    System Fan Speed: 0
    CPU Fan Speed: 0

BUT both the fans are going but my mobo is not reading and CPU temp is off the charts.

Ouch..... crackling means bad... either mobo.. or mobo......

Youre going to have to open up the case and look for blown capacitors and burn marks.

However. It may be the psu, but i don't think so.

Hi looking into the case... no burn marks. It might be the psu as that was the thing that smelt of smoke but it works and the fan spins. I just have a high cpu temp and the fan speeds are showing as 0 RPM EVEN though they are going. but windows does that little windows logo thing when booting but then restarts.

ALSO after the crackling. I saw my system fan wires snapped in two? But with a new one it still says 0RPM. Maybe was the PSU.

    Hi nostaw5,

It sounded very likely that your PSU went out and took along with your mobo. If you like to safe the unit, I would start on a new PSU. Regardless, a better quality and a at least bigger then 300 watt PSU is needed as common sense. If it still wouldn't work with a new one, that means your mobo is gone.

Good luck and keep us up to date,

    Bruce

Just cause youre getting a new psu... I'd suggest a 550Wish.. Not that you need that big, but a new mobo, cpu and video card will need around that.

PSUs usually can outlast a cpu/gpuy upgrade.
