I installd new windows Vista on my pc and can´t accses my recovery manager any more. I didn´t make recovery disks before installing new windows because i didnt know anything about that recovery stuff. I want my Orginal Vista back. :D Now with the new os the RECOVERY (D) is still there but i dont have the Recovery manager any more to accsess it or make a recovery disk. I can´t allso accsess it by booting my computer and hiting f11 or going by setup and choosing "system recovery" (what is acctuali the same what f11, i guess) the computer just start up as usual. Is there a wey to get it to work or making a recovery disk without the recovery manager?

Hello erjako, welcome Vista Forums!

Did you change the partition structure in any way when you did the new install.

If you installed Vista from a Vista disk (and not from a Recovery Disk or from the Recovery Partition), it did not contain the Recovery Manager and so it is not installed and cannot be used now to access the Recovery Partition and without it you cannot make your own Recovery Disks. There is no other way to do this without the Recovery Manager.

Here's how to use the HP Recovery Manager to create disks and to restore the computer to its original factory conditions (and I confirmed it applies to your model of computer): Recover Windows Vista Operating System Using HP Recovery HP Pavilion dv6-1100so Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English) using either those recovery disks or the recovery partition. Most does not apply to you because you no longer have Recovery Manager installed and it is not available for download - but it also includes how to install with Recovery Disks which you will need. The article also includes a link for how to order Recovery Disks which is what you need to do to restore the system to original factory conditions and get back your old Vista system (and the Recovery Manager as well). Here's the specific link for how to order the disks: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...us&os=2093&rule=10774&product=3927474&sw_lang=.

This restore to factory conditions will wipe your drive clean, so be sure to backup your important data before doing this.

You can use Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO copier like: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm along with a blank CD. This should give you enough access to the system (if you can't get in any other way) to backup your important data. If that doesn’t work, try slaving the drive to another computer and recovering the data using that other computer to access the disk. Once done, you can do a clean install either using the genuine Windows Vista Installation Disk or the Recovery Disk or the Recovery Partition (whatever process is dictated by your computer manufacturer or that you have available – you may need to contact them for the procedure and perhaps to get recovery disks - here I've included the process above). To do a clean install proceed as follows: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_install_03.asp (adapted as necessary by the procedures of your computer manufacturer). Then you will need to re-install all your programs, reset all your preferences, reconfigure your network and email settings, restore your backed up data, run Windows Update with possibly nearly 150 updates pending,...

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

I read your PM, but rules state that correspondence about computer problems must be done at the forum so that many may benefit.
That being said. If after using the repair DVD, you received a message that repairs could not be made, to me that indicates that it might be a hardware problem. You have to Test your Hard Drive and Test your memory, which is difficult since you cannot boot.
It may also be that you do not have the System Restore Option.
In either case, you must just reinstall the OS.
