System Health Report

Hi Forum,
Regarding above I am getting two notifications that I should like advice on:

(1) Missing Events in Events Log amounting to 16% lost.
(2) Keep being informed that Windows cannot find a working Anti-virus system even
though one is up and running. I cannot seem to be able to configure the System to
stop checking this status.

I suppose neither are critical since my system is working perfectly:D and I
am not particularly concerned. But I should like to remove these notifications by
rectifying what is causing them. Help appreciated.
System Windows Vista Home Premium (64bit).

Hello Rich,

I am using MSE anti-virus suite and Malewarebytes as you previously suggested to me. I also do regular scans with both. I suppose, as you say, it is nothing to worry about.

Tell me what AV you had before, its my guess that it is not fully removed. I will help you remove, if thats the case.

Regardiing point number 1 (since Richard covered point number 2),

Go to Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Event Viewer.

On the Left, click on the arrow next to Windows Logs to expand it and then right click on Application and click on Properties. Notice that there is a box to enter the maximum size of the log - try increasing it a bit (it shouldn't require much more than already allocated - try about 20% more). Under that are a number of options. Change it to Archive the log when full (then you will not lose any events). Do the same thing for the other logs (Security, Setup, and System). Hopefully that will resolve the problem with lost log information.

You can also check if the Windows Event log and dependency Services are started and setup properly. I don't think this is the issue or you'd be missing more than just 16-17%, but it's worth checking and verifying.

1. Click Start, type Services in Start Search and press ENTER.

2. Locate Windows Event log in the Services listed.

3. Verify if the Status is started. If the Status column is blank, Right click on Windows Event log Service and select Start and make sure it is set on Automatic.

4. Open Windows Event log Service, Select Dependencies. In Dependencies select the Windows Event Collector and click on ok to start the service (and also confirm that it is set for Automatic even if you have to go to it to do so).

5. Also check the Dependencies in the Windows Event Collector and start the dependencies Services by clicking OK (and check each dependency and make sure it is set for Automatic again going to each one if necessary to do so).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Here's the AVG Removal Tool that may help if remnants of the program remain on the system: AVG - Tools download. Use the one appropriate for your version of Vista.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
