My in-law's laptop gives the error "the User Profile Service service failed the logon --- User Profile cannot be loaded" when they try to startup.
The solution for this error on other threads appears to assume that you can gain access to the machine in other ways to gain access to the registry to correct the issue.
I cannot find a way in to circumvent the problem, historically access in safe mode would do this but that is not an option from F12 or F2 on start up on this machine that I can find. It is a Dell Studio running Windows Vista Home Premium.
All I get on start up is the user logon screen from where input of the correct password gives me the error. I seem to have no way round it.
Any thoughts from anyone that might help? Must be something obvious but it is new to me.
Thanks for any ideas
