Defragmentation

In Xp we did a lot of defrag for our computers but now in Vista we use Uniblue because we dont have full control by sight in Vista Defrag.
I know that the files are now side by side not on top anymore ,but I want to know if
Uniblue defrag is enough defragmentation. The Powersuite is doing something like that but should I do Vista defrag also often .Its taking up long time doing that, even though I just have driven the Uniblue Powersuite.

but Uniblue is a good back ground tool to keep the system in order.

Don't run 2 defraggers at the same time or on the same computer.

If you have a third party program doing it go to Task Scheduler and disable the Windows versions set tasks.

Welcome to Vista Forums!

If you want one free defragmentation tool that does the job and shows you a good picture of what is happening (and you uninstall any other 3rd-party versions you are using and remove the Vista one from running automatically and don't also run it manually), then I recommend http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/download/. It provides an excellent view of exactly what is happening and offers many good options.

At least download it and give it a look to see what you think (it costs nothing but a little time and you may well be pleased with what you see).

Thats great I will try that defrag .So its important to disabel the Vista from running automatic

Scales are the middle button on the upper right of every post. If you think a post has helped, click on the middle icon on THAT post (which are miniaturized scales that may be hard to see as scales) and add a comment and that person will get credit for being helpful. Yes, I'm a convert. They actually are better than what I was using and far better than what Vista provides. I always check out options that several people I respect seem to think are valuable or better than others and, like here, sometimes I end up switching.

I'd thank whoever first mentioned it, but I have no idea who that was.

And yes, that is also one of the reasons I participate in forums besides the desire to help other people.
