NSIS error, can't install almost anything.

Everytime it pops up that the temporary file isn't valid, or "Access is denied" for some setup to create a temporary file etc.I checked the environment variables, and they are all fine, i have all the folders. But this is still popping up on basically everything i download.I have to put them on a USB so i can install them, and it's very annoying.Anyone had this problem and fixed it without a System restore or format?

Nope i tried that one too, didn't find any problems. And I tried a restore, but it didn't move since it wanted to restart.Just System Restore is initializing and it stood there for 20 mins or so.

I'm just waiting to get my external HDD back so i can delete this crappy OS and put 7 on, or even better XP.

Hello!

This may not be the correct solution, but I am going to seize upon "Access is denied" for the time being. Try SR is Safe Mode as Rich suggested, but if necessary, try this.

  • Navigate to the %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Temp\ folder and right click on it and select Properties.
  • Under the Security tab, click Advanced.
  • Under the Owner tab, click Edit.
  • Click "Other Users and Groups".
  • Click Advanced.
  • Click "Find Now".
  • Scroll down and double click on Everyone.
  • Click OK THREE times.
  • Click on the Permissions tab.
  • Under type Deny, single click on it and click Remove.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Edit (now on the standard file Property window under the Security tab).
  • Click Add.
  • Click Advanced.
  • Click "Find Now".
  • Scroll down and double click on Everyone.
  • Click OK.
  • Single click on Everyone and then tick the "Full Control" box under Allow.
  • Click OK TWO times.
See if this helps.

BTW, this is a canned speech. Feel free to use it for anybody who needs help (talking to Rich or any other Senior Member)

Richard

Double post, sorry.

But I couldn't even get in Safe Mode, it stayed at a screen with a cursor and it didn't move.No viruses, scanned with Kaspersky and MBAM, both didn't find anything.
