You may have a Failed HDD... Have you checked the HDD For any Bad sectors?

Also do you have an Installation disk?

Many Thanks,
Josh

Okay Firstly you should be Able to access the BIOS

WHen you have a chance could you take out the HDD and Place it inside of a Caddy (Do you have one??) If Not then you may need to buy one

A Caddy turns an Internal HDD Into a External HDD

Also you will need another Computer for this

Many Thanks,
Josh

There may Be One Chance before buying a new HDD

Could you Follow these Steps http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/141820-create-recovery-disc.html?ltr=C

After you Have made a Recovery Disk Boot into it and enter your Details After that in the bottom Left hand Corner it should say "Repair My Computer" Click that

After that Click Startup Repair and test it If that doesn't work then Please open Up Command Prompt ,Using the Disk, and type the following:

Code:
BootRec.exe /fixmbr

Then Press Enter After that type this:

Code:
BootRec.exe /FixBoot

And Press Enter then Test it

Hope This Helps,
Josh

I don't quite know where you saw that, but that sure ain't the price to pay! For a normal hard disk drive, about £70. Obviously, a laptop hard disk will be slightly more.

I will have a look for you now, but don't buy one quite yet.

Just in case we need it for later, what model number is your Sony Vaio NS...?

How big would you think this hard disk would be? We can discuss this, but how big was your current one, and was that too small? Up to a point, hard disk prices are almost exactly the same, and then the price rises. We would find you the biggest, cheap hard disk, unless you need more space.

We need to discuss this more, but I am looking at suitable hard disks at about £50. BTW, how much do you use this laptop? 1 year is quite a short hard disk lifespan.

If you would like a New HDD Then Niemiro is your Guy to talk to ;) If you give him a Price tag and a Size (Within Reason) I am pretty sure he will find one for you

I will carry on trying to find your OS for you until I am Stumped ;)

500GB: We may be able to get a good one for under £60, but no definitive promises yet. 500GB is a good size. It is the largest cheap hard disk drive.

However, we do need to get this recovery CD issue sorted out first!

How did you get your OS?
Did it come preinstalled?
Did you buy DVD's

If it came preinstalled you need a DVD to put it on the new hard drive.
If you bought the OS, you have the DVD that you can use to install.

Niemiro will give you any more details. that are needed.
