Hi I found blue screen on my Fujitsu lifebook s6410 and using vista business 64bit.
I sent it to fujitsu centre to be diagnosed which ended up cost me for S$80 and I need to do the recovery process but I lost my cd recovery. Is there any way I can download the content of the cd from somewhere? Or can suggest me some links to do the recovery process? thanks =)

Fujitsu didn't do that for you during the repair process? I'm surprised - they should have. I would have insisted on it - but I guess it's a bit late for that now.

Recontact them to see if your Lifebook (I could not find that product number on the USA site) has a Recovery Partition that can be used to either restore the system to factory conditions and/or create restore disks (and how to go about doing both processes). If that doesn't work, tell them you need to purchase a set of Recovery Disks for for computer - they should be able to sell them to you at a nominal fee. I'm not aware of anyplace to download this except through Fujitsu and they normally do not provide recovery disks in that manner - remember it needs to be specific to your machine and version of Vista so you can't just use recovery disks for other Fujitsu computers - even if the same make and model.

Another alternative is to borrow a copy of a genuine Vista Installation Disk of the same bit-size (the version doesn't matter) and use it and your original product key to re-install Vista (though any other products on the recovery disk won't be included and the Vista Disk may not have all the drivers you need so you may need to get those from Fujitsu if you do go this route). I'm not sure where to get them as I could not find your model number anywhere on the Fujitsu USA website - but the people who repaired your machine should know if it comes to that.

I hope this helps. If you can give me anything else to ID your computer, I'll look again - but I could find nothing with what was provided. After almost an hour of research, I could find nothing about a recovery partition on these computers, so while it won't hurt to ask them, I don't think they have them. That leaves only the disks.

Here's how to contact Fujitsu USA Support if you don't already have a way having had it just diagnosed. Support & Downloads : Fujitsu United States.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Without a CD you may be able to restore to factory specs by hitting an f key during boot. It is usually an f11. There are many variations however alt f11, f12 etc. I will try to find online how it is done. If you have your manual it will be found there. You were shown during the boot process, which key to push, but too late for that.

Just found this. Try and cross your fingers
How to Factory Restore a Fujitsu C Series Lifebook | eHow.co.uk

If it works, it will be like the first day. You lose all pics etc. If you want to save them let me know.

I must apologize the above link only shows how to restore with a DVD. My friend Lorien, above, informs me that after his extensive research the only means to restore is by a DVD and now I agree.

Richard mentioned helping you recover the data before restoring. Here are some things to consider.

I'm not sure if you need to restore with the DVD because they think it's a software problem or because they wiped the drive clean during what they did. Even if you once had a Recovery Partition (which i sincerely doubt), they may have wiped that as well. Whether or not and how we can help you recover any important data that was/is on the drive depends a great deal on what actually happened - it would help to know from the people who worked on it what exactly they did in terms of the hard drive (while you're on the phone with them anyway).

In one case, it may be as simple as booting to a special disk to get access to the drive (or slaving the drive to another computer) and then copying what you want to save to something (an external drive, another computer, a Flash Drive (if big enough), or a CD/DVD (unless using it with the special disk so you can't use it for copying). In another case, it may be very similar to that except we would only be able to use the slave process and recovery software which may or may not work and if it does work may recover very little, some, many or even most of the data - though my experience has been it recovers very little in such cases.

In either case, we'll help walk you through the process and provide links as needed (or advise you of your options if those aren't possible or don't work).

I hope this explanation helps you understand the alternatives a little better and what else to ask if you talk to the repair people again.

Good luck!
