Where would my emails be stored

Dear Forum,

I have been searching for hours to try and find where my emails are stored on a hard drive I had to remove from my laptop, after my screen broke.

I have managed to find a folder called windows mail where there are some files that end dll, but I cant seem to open these without downloading and buying additional software.

Im only trying to find 1 email that I sent to someone for a court case, and after hours of stressful searching, getting no closer.

Any help most welcome.

Done the search with show hidden files for a multitude of extensions etc, but cant find what I need. The hard drive is showing up as windows vista when placed in a docking station.

Did you allow windows to store any Emails on your HDD? If so then you will not find it on your HDD

Also use You Email Program and search for the email it should be stored on the Internet unless you have deleted it

Many Thanks,
Josh

I know when I work offline I could read email on my laptop, so assume that they were stored somewhere on my hdd

Cant seem anywhere to enable me to log into my email accounts via hdd being read, will I be able to read emails if I set up account on another pc.

cheers

Yes as long as you haven't deleted the Email and that you know the Email Address that has received the Email and the Password to access that account

tried for hours again today, read so many different ways, but cant find where my emails are on my hdd.

If I can read email offline, then surely they must be stored somewhere on my computer hdd.

I've got the sata hdd connected to another PC, can read all the folders, etc, but no joy in searching for any variation of file name

Does anyone know how to find the folder - OS is vista

Many thanks

What to you plan From this?? I am slightly Confused (Sorry :( ) Do Plan on using that Email on Another Computer if So then you can log on to your Email Server If you want to create a Backup or Store it somewere else than That is a Different Story

Also please Be advised when you Work offline your Emails are Downloaded TEMPORARILY and when you go back online your Account is Updated and the TEMP Emails are deleted

Hope This Helps,
Josh

Ohh Sorry Your Emails are stored at C:\users\(your user name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders

AppData Is a Hidden Folder so you will need to Enable that by Going to:

Organise> Folder and Search Options

Then Click the View Tab And then Click Show Hidden Files and folders

After that Click Apply and Okay This should allow you to see Hidden Files and Folders

You can disable this Afterwards

Hope This Helps,
Josh

Hi,

From reading the above: -

Are you saying the the drive from your old Laptop is now a slave unit in another PC of some sort & you are looking for them on the slave unit?

What package are you using to read the messages now & previously?

Sorry,

I posted blind to two others trying to help!
