Backups...questions

I have Windows Vista Basic and want to start doing backups on a regular basis. I want to do the backups on a thumb drive. If I do a backup today, and another tomorrow, and there is very little additonal data for these days, does it take a shorter time to do the backup the 2nd day,( since there is only a little addtional data), or, more longer, because I am backing up everything the previous day PLUS the little additional data? Bear with me...........I'm new to this. Thanks in advance

Welcome
Tell us the name of the software that you are using to back up.
We can research to see if the backups are what is called incremental.

Are you using the native back up and restore?

Using the OS back up and restore, due to incremental back ups, the time will be shorter and additional space needed will be less.

The back ups are generally incremental and do take a little less time. In some situations the back up is a full back up. Such as when a backup was not made for a long time.

I would Recommend SyncToy For a Good synchronisation Tool

Please see Download details: SyncToy 2.1 For More Information You will need the x86 .exe File

This is Just a Suggestion ;)
