What does it mean if a file is signed with a broken digital signature?

I scanned my computer with AVG (Which just recently has been acting funny), and I found and deleted a bunch of tracking cookies, but there were a hand full of files that I don't think were infected, but it said next to them that "The file is signed with a broken digital signature" Does anyone know what that means, and how to fix it?
Thanks! O h and most of those files were from C:\WINDOWS\Installer

My Computer

Per AVG this is for information only
The file is signed with a broken digital signature
The reported file was signed with a digital certificate ensuring its integrity. However due to changes to it, the certificate no longer corresponds with the content. This might happen when file is infected but also when it was incorrectly updated, broken due to some error or when the digital signature expired.

Make sure that you run a full, updated AVG scan
Download and run malwarebytes; full and upated scan
If all is negative, you are ok.

Actually I do. Most times it is a problem with AVG 9.0
go back to 8.5
or
Unistall and use Microsoft Security Essentials. Which is made just for Windows
I use MSE, Malwarebytes and the Windows Firewall.

I updated AVG about a week or so ago, and ever since then, when I scan something when it counts the files that it scans, it jumps like from 2 hundred something, all the way into the 7 or 8 thousands. so last night I uninstalled it and re downloaded it and reinstalled it, and the problem was still there. so I used the system restore on my computer, and restored it to about 2 months ago, and then it wouldn't let me uninstall AVG, so I had to undo the system restore, and ever since then I scanned twice and both times I had a hand full of files in C:\WINDOWS\Installer that were signed with a broken digital signature.

My Computer

Make a system restore point
Then uninstall
and then
try Microsoft Security Essentials
Cant uninstall
Use the AVG unistall tool
and
Try revno uninstaller
and/or
try in safe mode

You say that you have a handful. The C:\Windows\Installer folder is quite delicate. If you can, would you mind uploading the log? It will look like it means nothing, as they are likely to be CLSIDs (long strings of random numbers) but we may actually be able to make sense of them. Suppose that they all originate from one program. Re-install that one program?

Well I uninstalled AVG so I don't have the log anymore, but maybe you can tell me why when AVG was scanning my computer, as it was counting the objects is scanned it jumped from like 2 or 3 hundred all the way to like 7000. I think it only started doing that when I updated to 9.0. I was just wondering if that was something with AVG 9.0 or with my computer. I'm going to try going back to 8.5 when I get a chance. been very busy lately.
