Hi,

I am running Vista Home Premium x64 and I would really like to run a logoff and/or shutdown script. Do you have a way to do it? I know it's in gpedit and I have seen a lot of posts where people have added scripts with gpedit and then tried to do a before & after analysis of the registry to see how to manually add a script - but it is really complicated and I can't get it to work.

Good grief, you would think that running a logoff/logon/startup/shutdown script would be as easy as adding one registry entry but I can't find any information. And it sure doesn't help that you have to logoff/logon/restart to test it.

I'm hoping that you have the magic answer!!!

Thanks for the reply and the info. Unfortunately, these instructions are for using the Group Policy Editor which, as you know, is not available in Vista Home Premium.

If there is anyone in the world that knows how to configure a simple shutdown/logoff script via registry entries, he/she has never visited "the web" and left that valuable information behind.

Of course, I am assuming that Microsoft HAS NOT made this impossible to do. Probably a naive assumption...

Thanks again, Rich

Hi
I really am trying to help you solve your problem.

Oh Rich, I'm sorry if I wrote something that you took wrong. My frustration at researching this problem for a week was not directed towards you at all. I thought that you could relate to Microsoft's tendancy to use "missing features" as bait to upgrade. I also hoped some MS employee might read this and be able to shed some light.

I am going to try the info that you posted and I will be careful as I know the dangers of regedit ;-)

Thanks again...

And my aplogies to you, my comment was not aimed at you, but more at myself. I meant that I want to help, but reg changes may cause more harm than good. LOL
