Solved Problems with Recovery (D) Drive

I have a Dell PC Intel 2 Quad 2.4GH. 4GB RAM. 500 GB HD

Although I back up externally, I decided to create a Recovery Drive.

I keep getting a warning that I have 'Low Disk space.'

When I check properties on my Recovery (D) Drive it shows:

9.99GB Used
4.33 GB Free

Yet capacity at 9.99GB.

I don't know how to increase the disk space as the drop down box showing 4.33 GB does not allow for change. I clear out all unwanted files regulary on CC Cleaner, but even that does not seem to help.

I'm still a novice at this stuff so would appreciate 'primer-one' instructions please, and thanks in advance. You guys have always come up with an answer for my previous problems!

Welcome
First here is information on how to create the D drive. Just to be sure that it was done correctly, but that does not seem to be the problem.

If you are low on Disc space here is some information that may allow you to make additional space available by reducing the space available for System Restore points
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76227-system-restore-disk-space.html
You can even delete some of the points already made. Be sure to leave the last few in case you run into problems and need them for a safety net. This is for both Seven and Vista. You can also delete points from an Administrative user account using Ccleaner

Additional methods to increase available space.

Uninstall any unwanted programs.
Go to control panel>programs and features and uninstall programs that are not needed.
You may also uninstall by downloading and using the more effective recuva.

Here is a rather lengthy article on increasing space. If you want to try any but have problems, I will be happy to give you any assistance that you require. Dont be afraid to ask and try. I and the forum are here for you.

Finally the guide that I have used.

Again, not the simple way that you had asked, but read slowly the articles that interest you. Ask about one or two at at time. I will give it to you in a way that you could understand and use.

Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it.

Before I start anything, a question:

As I regulary save my work to external dard drive, including a complete HD copy on disc using HD Clone Images, do I need to go through all this?

If so, how to I remove this Recovery Drive from my computer?

Thanks,

LIT

Here is another slant on how to delete a partiion. I think that you should be fairly well set, now.

If you regualrly back up safely, there is no real need to have that D partion. Just takes up space

Make sure that you do make a boot CD in case you need the back up.

Rich,

All fixed. Many thanks to you and all the guys/gals on the forum who have helped me in the past.

I use a lot of different forums but must admit this one is probably the best in that it actually fixes things:)

Tried to give you a point but the board would not let me for some reason. Claims I have to share my praise around!

Cheers,

What that means is you have to give to one other person before you give to me
