Safe Mode Booting

I'm interested in how Safe Mode boots.
I believe it uses ControlSet for instructions on what to load.
Is this correct?

I just want to learn more about safe mode.

Tx for any comments.

Safe mode is used when you have a problem. Possibly you crash or freeze etc. You go into safe mode and verylittle is loaded, just drivers. If it does not crash, this will help you determine the cause. You know that it is not drivers.
Then you go into the second mode of the testing, try a clean boot.
Going into safe mode can help you diagnose many problems

If you have a problem such as freezing, but it does not freeze in safe mode; you can try a clean boot to determine the precise cause

I was looking for a more indepth discussion,
about where in the registry,
Vista keeps the commands,
that it loads when Safe Mode is started.

I found what I was looking for.
Someone on a different forum emailed me,
and suggested I read in Windows Internals",
5th Ed, about safe mode.
In HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot - Minimal,
are the "instructions" for the mininal boot.

Now I will play with things,
and see what I can get by with,
for a real minimal boot on my small system.
