Memory testing

If you want to run Memtest you have to make a bootable CDR and boot it. This is because the operating system uses certain parts of memory.

Is there a way to test only the memory that is used by applications? If there is such a test, perhaps it could be run without making a CDR but just by running a program. Of course, it wouldn't be as thorough as a real Memtest.

I found a tool called Windows Diagnostics Tool. You can press Start and type "memory" into the search box.
I ran it and it took 10 minutes and found no problems. It did not require a CD.

I wonder how thorough it is, compared to memtest86.

As memory use is random, you need to test all the memory.

Also you need minimum a few hours to test your memory correctly.... 12hrs is best.

The windows versions okay, but a specific test program is best...
