Mouse not working when leaving sleep mode

I run windows Vista 32bit. For a while my mouse has taken between 1-120 seconds to start up when leaving sleep mode. Since updating my system with the normal windows update it asked me to do the mouse no longer wakes up. Even unplugging it from the usb and trying it in all the other ports will not get it to work. The keyboard works fine and i have to use it to restart the computer to get the mouse to work. Ive tried a couple of different mice and it happens on both of them. My current mouse is a logitech G500 and the problem has only been since the update a few days ago.

I tried to do that, but for some reason there is an error when i try to and it says try a more recent system restore. Not helpful really as it was the Windows Vista Service pack 2 that caused the problem it seems which is the oldest system restore point and it wont restore from it.

Uninstall the mouse driver. Then install new driver by way of the device manager.
If that does not work, uninstall the updates.
It does not really seem like a big problem to have to use the keyboard rather than the mouse to wake the computer, however.
If you have a laser mouse, and the light goes off during sleeep, it cannot wake the computer.

Okay ill try that when i get home. Sorry the issue is not waking up the computer. Its when the computer does wake up (i use the power button to wake it up) the mouse doesnt work at all. I have to then use the keyboard to restart the computer and only after a restart will the mouse work again.
