Speeding up Vista 64

Hey guys, new to the forum, so I am trying to solve some of my speed issues.

1. When I first load the computer I get a good 40 minutes where the light on my computer is indicating there is activity, and I can hear the noise like the HD is being accessed. During this time everything is sluggish, and nothing can be done for the first 5 minutes of logging in. For this reason I RARELY shut down my computer.

2. I use Photoshop on a daily basis for my job, and several times after being open a few hours I notice slowdowns... if I click an image and try to grab/move it, it takes a few seconds for the GUI to catch up to what I am doing.. so I have to click... wait.... drag.... wait... takes forever. THIS is when I reset the computer to clear any memory issues.

Here is my system info:

Vista 64 SP2
AMD Phenom 9150e Quad Core 1.80 ghz
4GB RAM
Readyboost on at 4GB.
