Closing a window causes little blue disc to turn til window finally DOES close

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure which Windows update caused this, but ever since that download, whenever I close a window, the little blue disc keeps turning until the window DOES finally close. (Hope you understand what I'm saying.) This happens after closing EACH window, ALL the time. :sa:

Essentially, it takes a few extra secs for the closed window to really close. It's irritating/frustrating because I don't know how to fix it. I've put as much of my comp's info in my profile as I know or could find. Have been working with comps for six or so years. Not a total dummy, help alot of friends :geek: , and always reaching to learn more.

Have never seen this problem anywhere or it would be fixed by now, lol Can't STAND the waiting it causes til I can move onto something else.

Any suggestions?? PLEASE???

CompInfo: Vista Ultimate, IE8--See Profile for more.

I thank you for your time. :D

Welcome
Lets try two steps to see if we can fix the problem
Assuming that you are using IE go to>tools>internet options>advanced>resest and see if that helps.
Second try with clean boot to see if some software is behind the problem
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
If it works follow the instructions to find the precise cause

As explained previously, Rich, I am using IE8, had that in my question to the Forum... also listed in my Profile, is as much info as I could find on my comp at the moment of writing. Sorry you didn't see that. :)

Guess I also should have listed all the things I've done to fix this too?? List would have been really LONG...didn't want to do that. But I have tried the two things you suggested. Thanks though for your reply. I do appreciate your try at it.

Have a great week.

Hello and welcome to the forum, I am not sure if this will help but I had a bad hour glass that came on all the time it was kind of crazy but this did help some with the hour glass coming on I hope it helps.

Thank you for your post americancritic :D Unfortunately, this didn't help either. I even went so far as to start my comp in Safe Mode. The window STILL hangs when I close it.

If the windows still hang when closing while in Safe Mode, what in the world could be wrong??? I'm totally clueless here and I'm no dunce!! I've posted this question on Microsoft Answers with no results either. :( That's another reason I'm here--where my op system is one of the specialties. Sure was hoping someone out there knew or had experienced this and could help!! But won't give up hope yet....

Can't believe I'm all alone with this problem... Wish now I could remember which Windows update did this, sigh. Shows no sign of abating either.

PLEASE, someone, anyone, post something? Please?

Thanks to everyone who's read this and has tried to help. Do appreciate it very much.:)

I'm will continue the hunt for the cure...it's gotta be out there.

Hello and I am sorry that you are still having problems with your system.

I am wondering if you would tell me please does the bottom of your screen flicker when your closing a window or internet not when opening, and does the hour glass come on when you are in a program without you doing anything. Come on by it's self for no reason at all in any program. Watch you amber light on your computer to see if it is staying active for no reason even at rest. This can be a clue and a lot of times when the hour glass comes on for no reason it is a sign of some sort of a computer crash.

Thank you and I hope to see your answer soon.

Tom
