Sata HD Error - Computer wont load up :(

Hi guys, right before my exams i got a message saying somehting like "sata hard drive error" and then wouldnt load up after i had shut it down. So a month after my exams i have returned to attempt to fix it or atleast know if it is fixable. I dont have a windows installation Cd for it. Im using windows Vista. The problem from the startup repair is identified as all this mumbo jumbo below. Anybody know how to help? Thanks in advance!

I can get to the screen with the "start up repair", "system restore" etc. Im currently trying the system restore option. But i remember it not working last time i tried it. I dont know if that helps anymore.

When you press F8 on bootup what options have you tried?

Try starting with just a command prompt and typing chkdsk c:

I have tried all the options when pressing F8. The hard drive seems fine as i have loaded up using ubunto and backed up all my documents.

It loads up but restarts before the login screen appears. Im tottally confused as the start up repair says it cannot repair the computer automatically. So i dont know what to do!
