Solved The user profile service failed the logon

This morning when i attempted to log onto my laptop I kept getting the message "The User Profile Service failed the logon. The User
Profile failed to load."

Fortunately after Googling the error message, I found someone who had a similar error whereby the profile had entered a backup state. As i only have one account (the admin account) I logged on using safe mode and modified the keys
under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current User\ProfileList\ using regedit and made the appropriate changes. This did NOT work!! I have tried making a new account but can't as I only have the one account and it's not enabling me to 'manage another account'.

What can I do now??? Do I have to delete my corrupted profile? I have seen instrustions for doing this on the microsoft website but how do I then log on to create a new profile if i delete the only exisiting profile on my comp?

Please, please help!!!!!

Jules

i have already taken these steps i was just worried about deleting my profile when i know that safe mode does not allow me to create a new one... especially since my profile is the only account on the comp..

thanks, it worked! :)

Pardon my butting in....

It is my recommendation that you have two ( 2 ) admin accounts, one of which will be your emergency admin account.
You will always have an admin to logon to if one fails to do so, such as this case of yours.

2 options :

1. Keep the built-in admin account active with a secured password. Some will disagree with me on this, but that is another subject matter.

2. Create another admin account and only use it for emergency, such as this.
