Hi rich
Further to my post: When I open the save as menu I am offered the the default option to save as a wps file but the drop down menu offers you the choice to save with various other file extensions doc docs rich text and so on, but when I select any of the proffered options I:mad: get the message windows can not save in this format. What's the point of offering something it can't deliver? or have I just summed up M S works and Vista!

Thanks for the tip on open office, still evaluating my options.

Ill just give you a straight answer, I dont know. I do believe that the free Office will solve all your problems. Just start with a system restore point, just in case it is not to your likeing.

WPS files can be opened by Microsoft Office Word 2010 which is expensive, or Microsoft Word Viewer which is free.
If your recipients do not have any of the above, you will have to convert the wps into doc files before you send them.
Google for a wps files to doc files converter.
