Weird Problem Please Help

Have ITunes on my system so we can use our iPad. Went on iTunes to update iPad and noticed iTunes had an update. Tried to update iTunes but the update failed stating there is a file (?) missing from Windows Installer. Afterwards I installed two Windows Framework updates and the Chrome browser. My HP Pavilion m7750n Media Center PC no longer is eligible for free phone support so I'm stuck. Seems strange that the Windows Installer will not work with iTunes.

Any any all suggestions and help is appreciated. Btw, I am not highly tech savvy.

Hello Louisp and welcome to the forums

You are the second soldier I will have helped in my time here!

Is iTunes currently installed on your system? If so, can you please remove it with Revo Uninstaller and remove any leftovers with revo - this is very simple to do, you'll see exactly what I mean when you use it :)

Then, once you've done that, I would like you to scan your computer with CCleaner. Don't use the registry scanner, just the normal cleaner will suffice :)

After you've done this, I would like you to install the latest version of iTunes from here:

Please let us know how it goes :)

Thank you for your help and kind words.

Can you tell me what the deletion and re-install of iTunes will have on the current information on our iPad? Important medical information is on our iPad.

Best regards

Ah, that makes things a little trickier. Yes, you would have to resync your iPad after installing iTunes again

You've got a few choices here depending on your situation

a) If you have this important medical information backed up elsewhere, do as I said before then resync it to your iPad

b) Just ignore the update and carry on as you were before. Try updating it again when the next update comes out and if that doesn't work, then we can try something else

To be honest with you, I don't update iTunes at all with these minor updates, e.g. from 10.1 to 10.2, I only update it when there is a new version out, e.g. from 10.X to 11.X :) They only fix minor bugs and if you're not having any problems with iTunes, then it could be an option not to update it
