Toshiba Laptop Bios Password

Hi guys,

I just wanna know is there a way to remove/reset my laptop bios password? i try googling how and all i seems to find is for me to dissemble my laptop and well i really am not good when it comes to hardware stuff, so i was wondering is there other way for me to remove it without messing with my laptop hardware?

Why do you want to remove this password? Is this computer yours?

We need a lot of details about your problem please, to put it bluntly, I have to decide whether you have a stolen laptop and are trying to use it, or you've simply forgotten your password. I'm not suggesting you've stolen a laptop or anything, I'm simply trying to explain myself :)

well my mother bought this laptop about 4 years ago on the local harvey norman shop, and the thing is dont remember whether or not i ever set a bios password for this laptop or maybe mom actually did and about a year ago this laptop had to be sent to the shop back because i cant turn it on and theyre asking for the bios password, i tell them i dont know and my mom dont know the password too, thinking that maybe they actually will remove/reset it themselves and turned out they didnt and thats why im asking is there a way i can do to remove/reset the password because its been bugging me for a long time :cry:

A DVD would work fine :) A USB would also work however this is a right pain to set up, so we'll stick to the DVD

another thing i need to know, will it delete any of my personal files? should i backup everything first before using the DVD?

It shouldn't touch any of your files, BIOS is separate from your hard drive, but it would probably be a good idea, just in case :)

do i need to use this patch (screenshot)? whats 'HBCDCustomizer' for? which (settings) should i choose in the infrarecorder just so that i can format the dvd back to blank after finish using hiren?

im using 'Verbatim DVD+RW'.

Nope, leave the patch, just let InfraRecorder use the default settings apart from the speed, which you will need to set as low
