Solved How to download/access Vista with my valid product key

Hello,

I bought a Sony VAIO with the OS Vista already included (incl. valid product key). However I did not receive a Vista-CD to be able to re-install the OS.

Now, I had to format my hard drive and need to re-install the OS. Where can I access/download Vista with my product key?

Thank you very much in advance.

VAIO Recovery Center has the ability to restore to factory settings. It should be pre-installed on your computer.
If you want to boot to VAIO Recovery Center, not Windows. Then press F10 when the VAIO logo appears at the start of booting your computer.

Make sure you had backup your files and programs. Because it deletes EVERYTHING, including other partitions, except the recovery partition.

The problem, here, is that you made a format before posting at the forum.
Your computer has or had a restoration partition, that you could have accessed by pressing the f 10 key during boot. You can try that but after a format the partition is probably gone. That would have restored your computer to factory settings, like it was the day that you bought it. As far, as I know, now. The only other option is to call the company to get restoration discs. There will probably be a small charge; I would say about $25.00. If you cannot get the DVD's the only other option is to buy a Windows Seven upgrade DVD, for about $125.00. You must make sure that your computer is capable of handling Seven, first. That is about all that I can tell you at the present time.

Edit: ExBrit and I were posting at the same time.

Thank you very much for your help!
It actually worked by pressing F10. The system is completely restored and works.
I suppose I was lucky and had not formatted the part with all the restoration information.. Many thanks!!!

Glad you're OK. I had a feeling it would work as that partition is hidden from view usually as would have missed your attempt to format.
