Why not start with the most obvious possibility, memory problems. Test your memory

If it is not a problem with the memory, the next step is to run a full anti virus scan and download and run a full scan with malwarebytes. Be sure to update before running scans.

In addition to what Richc46 recommends, how much free hard drive space do you have? Do you ever run the Windows Disk Cleanup utility to clean out temporary files and reboot to clean out the recycle bin?

I had memory leaks in all browsers a couple of years ago, couldn't find a fix so I bought a new harddrive, loaded that with XP, made that my c: drive and made my Vista drive my d:. Problem solved. A couple of months ago I switched am hd's around do Vista was the
c:. I loaded sp2 on vista and brought the updates up-to-date and it worked fine for a couple of months that is it seemed to have a problem with the video card. I would load up the xp system and video problems went away. I loaded Vista back up and installed the latest version drivers for that card from Nvidia. That was the kiss of death. I could not keep that system up for more than about 1 min even in safe mode. I decided to re-install and to make matters worse after dealing with a days worth of updates the thing has the nerve to tell me I'm not authentic. At this point I want someone's head on a platter maybe with the skull carved out and spinach dip put in to replace the brain. I think that would be appropriate.
