I had a similar problem with Symantec. I got a virus and was able to remove it by a system restore. I called Symantec to renew my anti-virus subscription. While I was there, I griped because Norton didn't catch the virus. She immediately transferred me to another department and the lady there insisted that I spend $100 to let them remove the virus. She said if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to renew my subscription. We went round and round since I had already removed the virus but there was no reasoning with them so I just politely thanked them and hung up. A couple of nights later I called to renew my subscription and there was no problem.

I''ll bet I could've eventually got results but there's no telling how long it would've taken. Like I said XP is up and running so I have what I need beside I'll be using XAMPP a lot in the next few months and XP is the recommended Windows platform fro XAMPP. I have another HD I might load Ubuntu on, I haven't tried Linux in years maybe they support more stuff now.

I absolutely did talk to a activate by phone person, she kept telling me bring up the activation screen and I kept telling her I wasn't on Vista that my Vista wasn't useable at this point, I did ask to talk to her supervisor she transferred me to this person who barely speaks English( a brilliant strategy Dilbert would appreciate) anyway as I mentioned before after spending 20 min of reading her my product key she told me I could get help installation help for $59.
